Why Might I Have a Veneer?

Veneers are an ideal way of treating discolored or unsightly teeth, closing gaps between front teeth, or repairing chips and cracks. Veneers are used on teeth with uneven surfaces or are chipped, discolored, oddly shaped, unevenly spaced or crooked. Little or no anesthesia is needed. Veneers are used to treat some of the same problems as bonding.

How Are Veneers Made?

A small amount of enamel is removed from the tooth, usually the same thickness as the veneer will be. An impression (mold) is taken by the dentist and sent to a dental technician for the veneer to be made in the laboratory. The veneer is then bonded to the tooth to form a strong and natural-looking repair. Before inserting veneers, the dentist first takes an impression of your tooth, then buffs the tooth before cementing the veneer in place. A beam of light helps harden the cement, which secures the veneer to your tooth. Porcelain veneers are made in a laboratory, so you need a second visit to the best dentist in Pune to have them inserted.
